CNC Machinist (Lead Man) Location: Cottondale, AL, US Experience: Senior Level Salary: $50 - $60 per hour We are currently seeking a highly experienced CNC Machinist (Lead Man) to join our dynamic and innovative team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines, interpreting blueprints, and leading a team of machinists to produce high-quality parts and tools. This is a permanent, full‑time position that offers competitive compensation and opportunities for professional growth. Responsibilities Setting up and operating 4 and 5 axis CNC machines to produce precision parts. Reading and interpreting complex blueprints, engineering plans, and geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) to plan machining activities. Leading, coordinating, and supervising a team of machinists, ensuring all team members adhere to safety protocols and quality standards. Performing routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting any issues that arise during the machining process. Conducting quality control inspections to ensure all products meet the required specifications and standards. Collaborating with the engineering and production teams to optimize machining processes and improve product quality. Training and mentoring junior machinists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Qualifications Minimum 5 years' experience in CNC setup, operation, and programming, specifically with 4 and 5 axis CNC machines. Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpretation, with a solid understanding of GD&T. Proven leadership skills, with experience in coordinating and supervising a team. Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve machine‑related issues effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and mentor team members. Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or certification in a relevant field is a plus. Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy items and stand for extended periods.
