We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and compassionate Medical Assistant to become an important part of our team.

The ideal candidate will have previous medical assisting experience, preferably in a podiatry office , and be comfortable working in a busy medical practice. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, works well as part of a team, can multitask, and consistently provides excellent patient care and customer service.

Bilingual English/Spanish is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to examination rooms
• Obtain and document patient history, medications, allergies, chief complaint, and other relevant information
• Obtain and document vital signs and other clinical information
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
• Assist the physician during examinations and in-office procedures
• Perform quality and accurate chart documentation
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the EMR
• Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and appropriate supplies are available
• Assist with wound care, dressing changes, bandaging, and other podiatric treatments
• Assist with nail care and routine podiatric procedures
• Take X-rays of the feet and ankles when needed
• Provide patients with instructions regarding foot care, wound care, medications, and treatment plans as directed by the physician
• Communicate patient information and concerns to the physician
• Follow up on laboratory results and patient phone calls
• Return patient calls and communicate provider instructions appropriately
• Schedule surgeries and coordinate necessary pre-operative information
• Assist with referrals, authorizations, and medical records as needed
• Assist with maintaining adequate clinical supplies and inventory
• Help maintain efficient patient flow throughout the office
• Provide professional, friendly, and compassionate patient care
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements
• Perform other clinical and administrative duties as needed

Qualifications

Required:

• Previous experience as a Medical Assistant
• Strong clinical and patient-care skills
• Previous experience with wound care
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy medical office
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Professional and positive attitude
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and the healthcare provider
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Strongly Preferred:

• Previous experience in a podiatry office
• Bilingual English/Spanish
• Experience in taking X-rays
• Experience with wound care and dressing changes
• Experience assisting with podiatric procedures
• Experience with NextGen EMR
• CMA/RMA/CCMA certification

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is more than just a medical assistant. The ideal candidate is someone who can confidently work in a podiatry environment and understands the unique needs of our patients.

You should be comfortable working with patients who have wounds, diabetic foot problems, nail and skin conditions, and other podiatric concerns.

You should be able to take quality foot and ankle X-rays, assist with wound care and procedures, document accurately, communicate effectively with patients, and keep the clinical side of the office moving efficiently.

The ability to speak both English and Spanish is a significant advantage because we serve a diverse patient population.
