RN Neuro Trauma ICU

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide specialized critical care nursing in a Level II trauma Neuro/Trauma Surgical Intensive Care Unit (NT/SICU) with a 12-bed, 2:1 patient ratio. The RN will care for neuro/trauma patients requiring advanced monitoring such as ICP monitors, CRRT, and lumbar drains. This role includes floating to Cardiovascular, Telemetry, ICU/CCU, or Medical-Surgical units as needed. The RN must have at least 5 years of acute critical care experience and be proficient in EPIC charting. Responsibilities:

  • Provide skilled nursing care to neuro/trauma patients in a Level II trauma NT/SICU setting.
  • Manage patients with ICP monitors, CRRT, and lumbar drains.
  • Perform patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Float to Cardiovascular Unit, Telemetry Care Unit, ICU/CCU, or Medical-Surgical units as required.
  • Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health record system.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum 5 years of acute critical care nursing experience.
  • Level II trauma critical care experience.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications.
  • Proficiency with EPIC electronic charting system.
  • Previous traveler nurse experience.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Experience working in multiple critical care environments such as Cardiovascular, Telemetry, ICU/CCU, and Medical-Surgical units.
  • Strong interdisciplinary team collaboration skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Special Considerations:
  • Must be able to float between multiple specialized units as needed.
  • Work environment includes high acuity trauma and neuro patients requiring advanced monitoring.
  • Night shift position in a fast-paced critical care setting.
Scheduling:
  • Night shift schedule.
  • Shift assignments and floating duties determined by unit needs.
