Cardiac Monitor Technician – Medical/Surgical UnitStillwater Medical Center is seeking a detail-oriented and highly attentive Cardiac Monitor Technician to join our Medical/Surgical team. This role is essential in supporting patient safety through continuous cardiac monitoring, early identification of clinical changes, and timely communication with nursing staff.The Cardiac Monitor Technician plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality patient care by maintaining vigilance, accuracy, and collaboration in a fast-paced acute care environment.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide continuous surveillance of cardiac telemetry and/or video monitoring systemsPromptly recognize and report rhythm changes or patient condition concerns to the Charge Nurse or RNInitiate and discontinue telemetry monitoring per physician ordersPrepare, manage, and ensure proper application of telemetry equipmentAccurately document cardiac rhythms, dysrhythmia strips, and patient monitoring data in the EMRMaintain telemetry logs, records, and monitoring documentationEnsure monitoring equipment functionality; collaborate with Biomed and IT as neededSupport patient safety through timely communication and escalation of concernsAssist in training and precepting new staff as neededCollaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of careWork Environment & Team StructureReports directly to the Charge Nurse and Clinical Manager/DirectorFunctions within a collaborative, team-based care modelParticipates in unit-based self-scheduling and on-call rotations as neededCompletes all required competencies and ongoing educationWhy SMC?Patient safety through vigilance and accountabilityTeam collaboration and respectful communicationContinuous learning and professional developmentExcellence in clinical monitoring and rapid responseSupportive leadership and team-centered cultureOpportunities for growth and skill developmentMeaningful role in improving patient outcomesCommitment to high-quality, community-focused careAdditional Details:As needed varied position. Shifts will vary, could be 12 hours at a time, and will include some weekends.6 months monitor tech experience is required since this is a PRN position.Ability to cross train to fill unit secretary shifts as neededIf you're someone who thrives on attention to detail, critical thinking, and being a key part of patient safety, we encourage you to apply and become part of our team.Qualifications:Minimum age of 18-years/high-school graduate.Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.Ability to function in stressful situations.Preferably prior experience in cardiac monitoring of at least one year.Basic computer literacy.Physical Requirements:Work is sedentary in nature, with some standing and walking.Demonstrates adequate vision, or correctable with glasses, to read and write.Able to hear, or correctable with hearing devices, and able to talk to converse with others in person and over the phone.Able to hear, see, and feel to accurately assess and monitor patients.Able to frequently lift at least 60 lbs., reach, pull, push, bend, stoop, and kneel.Able to work in latex burdened environment.
