Pharmacy Manager, Specialty Clinical ServicesThis 1.0 FTE position is dedicated to the management of University of Michigan (UM) Health specialty pharmacy clinical services with direct oversight of clinical pharmacists. This position reports directly to the Pharmacy Director, Specialty Pharmacy.The Pharmacy Manager, Specialty Clinical Services assists with maintaining the clinical business for UM Health specialty pharmacy services in accordance with departmental standards, internal and external reporting requirements, accreditation standards, and pharmacy laws and regulations. The Pharmacy Manager provides oversight of pharmacy practice programs, medication use systems, and quality initiatives to detect, mitigate, and prevent medication adverse events and work to ensure medication use is aligned with evidence-based best practices and regulatory standards. The incumbent also works with interdisciplinary partners to deliver medication therapy management within patient care services and to ensure pharmaceutical care programs are appropriately integrated.Responsibilities*Specific duties include:Provide direct oversight of specialty pharmacy clinical services and clinical operations.Provide direction to specialty pharmacy staff regarding all clinical patient management decisions and operations.Oversee specialty clinical pharmacists to coordinate patient care activities for specialty pharmacy patients.Oversee the initial and ongoing disease state and medication training of specialty pharmacy staff.Participate in identifying and implementing quality improvement programs and continuous quality assurance initiatives to advance the medication use systems and promote optimal patient outcomes. This includes soliciting clinic prescriber feedback and identifying enhanced or additional services to meet clinic partner needs.Ensure specialty pharmacy clinical services meet accreditation, certification, and payer requirements.Consult with specialty pharmacy practitioners when feedback is necessary regarding patient management program updates and submit reports to the Quality Management Committee for review and approval.Work with specialty and department leadership to integrate specialty clinical care with area and department needs and initiatives.Contribute to accreditation maintenance and renewal along with associated quality improvement and assurance initiatives and metrics.Perform direct specialty pharmacy patient care as needed based on area needs.Required Qualifications*Current, unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in the State of MichiganControlled substance license or eligibility to become licensed within 90 days of employment start date. Pharmacist preceptor license is required following State licensure.Doctor of Pharmacy degree or Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy with one-year residency or fellowship or equivalent clinical experience.3 to 5 years of pharmacy experience including 1 to 2 years supervisory experience.Ability to travel from point A to point B throughout the workday as assigned.Ability to perform a variety of manual dexterity movements, including keyboarding; fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.Desired Qualifications*Experience in a leadership/management role focused on clinical services in a health-system specialty pharmacy setting is strongly desired.Board Certification in Specialty Pharmacy, Ambulatory Care or Pharmacotherapy.Strong verbal and written communication skills.We are a growing program, and the work environment will continue to change.
