Qualifications All candidates must be certified or in the process of being certified by the Department of Education for the State of Michigan, and hold the appropriate endorsement for the subject they are assigned to teach. (CC/RX/CD) Teacher Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging History lessons aligned with Shrine Catholic Academy’s curriculum, academic standards, and Catholic mission. Incorporate faith and values into instruction, fostering a learning environment consistent with Catholic identity and traditions. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, abilities, and backgrounds of students, especially with academic support classes. Integrate technology and real‑world applications into lessons to enhance student understanding of historic importance. Develop, assign, and assess coursework including homework, quizzes, projects, and exams. Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and grades in accordance with school policies and the FACTS student information system. Provide timely feedback to students and communicate academic progress to parents/guardians. Collaborate with colleagues in the History Department and with colleagues to support curriculum alignment and instructional best practices. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current in instructional strategies. Promote critical thinking, problem solving, and logical reasoning as core skills within the course. Foster a respectful, disciplined, and inclusive classroom environment grounded in Catholic values. Participate in professional school duties, including faculty meetings, retreats, school events, and other duties as assigned.
