The Marine Systems organization, part of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems, is searching for Mechanical Design Engineers in support of rapid growth in the Launcher Hardware organization. You will have the opportunity to be part of an expanding team of dedicated engineers directly supporting the engineering development of innovative launcher hardware for weapons systems on a variety of Navy platforms.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Develop designs concept and generate solid models that reflect those conceptsCollaborate with internal stakeholders balancing technical, schedule, and cost requirementsConduct trade studies to select and evaluate best design approaches to fulfill requirementsOversee the generation of engineering drawings using common GD&T practicesIdentify procurement needs and support fabricationProvide assembly checkout and test supportGenerate task plans and support proposal effortsOccasional domestic travel may be requiredThe qualified candidate will possess the following skills:Good communication skills, both oral and writtenAbility to work autonomously and in a team environmentMust be onsite 4 days a week, remote work is not an option for this role. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on the qualifications listed below:Basic Qualifications for Level 3:Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) discipline with 5 years relevant work experience; or Master’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) 3 years relevant work experience.Experience in machine design and drawing generationExperience with CAD modeling (NX, CREO, SolidWorks, or equivalent)Ability to plan tasks and execute to the established scheduleUS citizenship requiredAbility to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret ClearanceBasic Qualifications for Level 4:Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) discipline with 8 years relevant work experience; or Master’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) 6 years relevant work experience; or PHD in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) 3 years relevant work experienceExperience in machine design and drawing generationExperience with CAD modeling (NX, CREO, SolidWorks, or equivalent)Ability to plan tasks and execute to the established scheduleUS citizenship requiredAbility to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret ClearanceMust be onsite 4 days a week, remote work is not an option for this role.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in ASME Y14.5 GD&T Standard and ASME Y14.100 Dimensioning, Tolerancing, and Engineering Drawing PracticesExperience in developing design concepts, performing trade studies, and conducting evaluations and analysesExperience leading a team through design development.Experience developing project plans and communicating plans across hybrid teams.Strong background in machine design, strength of materials, and materials technologyExperience in technical presentationExperience in production supportExperience in working with vendors and suppliersAn active US Government Secret clearancePrimary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
