Key Responsibilities of the Pharmacist

• Accept and dispense prescription medications.
• Monitor patient medication compliance and over-usage patterns.
• Ensure that the supply of medicines is within the law.
• Ensure that the medicines prescribed to patients are suitable.
• Maintain confidential records of all patients and manage pharmacy files.
• Advise patients about medicines, including reactions and answering questions.
• Provide consultation on prescription and non-prescription medications.
• Provide services such as smoking cessation, blood pressure measurement, and cholesterol management.
• Educate patients on the handling of medical devices.
• Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions.
• Supervise pharmacy staff members.
• Maintain inventory on pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
• Identify patients' drug-related problems and communicate with healthcare practitioners.
• Work in conjunction with physicians, nurses, and pharmacy staff.

Requirements of the Pharmacist

• Doctor of Pharmacy degree required.
• Licensed by the state pharmacy board.
