Network Technician

Network TechnicianThe Shelton Public Schools has a vacancy for a Network Technician. The Network Technician will work under the general supervision and be evaluated by the Supervisor of Technology and Digital Learning. Position calls for a twelve month work year. Individuals shall work such a schedule as is determined by the Board of Education, but such employment shall be a minimum of forty (40) hours per week.Comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement benefits, paid sick and personal leave, and other benefits in accordance with applicable Board policies. Salary: As negotiated by the Board of Education. Probationary Period: Six (6) months. Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Supervisor of Technology and Digital Learning.ResponsibilitiesProvides account management for all local area, wide area, student information systems, and any other current or future LAN Hosted programs requiring an account and a password for usage. Assist in the troubleshooting and isolation of Local Area Network problems. Troubleshoot network connectivity and printing problems. Provide Level 1/Level2 support for network connectivity and network application problems. Ensure the policies and procedures for LAN administration are followed. Maintain technical competencies in the technology field. Maintain an inventory of spare parts to facilitate the repair of district equipment in a timely manner. Provide technical and analytical support to the Shelton Public School District. Effectively communicate technology procedures, policies and other related information to the end user community. Resolve and respond to customer issues. Participate in installs of software, configure/image network workstations, enable and manage login scripts, automate software distribution, configure network connectivity for all LAN attached workstations. Setup and install printers and other peripherals. Enhance and maintain the current asset management process. Manage Projects as assigned. Assist the Special Education Department to deploy/manage assistive technology. Assist and maintain Apple Devices through the mobile device management system (MDM), including Macs, Ipads, Iphones. All Other Duties as assigned.Skill Set/ RequirementsB.S. Degree, a technical field or a minimum of three (3) years related field experience. Minimum 2 years LAN Admin/Network support. Must be extremely organized and able to handle multiple projects and assignments simultaneously. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Ability to participate in a team environment and foster team building. Ability to set priorities and work under pressure. Ability to maintain a directory services infrastructure based on but not limited to Microsoft Active Directory and Google Workspace. Intermediate to advanced understanding of TCP/IP and other networking protocols. Strong ability to troubleshoot workstation, network and software and hardware problems. A thorough understanding of computer hardware - desktops, portables, Macs, notebooks, printers, NIC cards, hubs, File Servers, etc. Ability to install, troubleshoot and support multiple operating systems and productivity packages in both a standalone environment as well as a network. Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision. Commitment to providing superlative customer service. Above average analytical and trouble shooting skills, as well as the ability to learn and apply new technologies. Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs.
