Medical Secretary Job Details
Schedule : Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM
Pay Rate : $20.00/hr
Location : Columbus, OH
Medical Secretary Requirements/Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience required; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- Experience with eligibility verification required.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Epic EHR experience preferred.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally with patients, healthcare providers, and team members.
- Ability to multitask and manage administrative responsibilities in a medical office environment.
As a Medical Secretary, your responsibilities will include:
- Verify patient insurance eligibility for office, hospital, and dialysis services.
- Contact patients by phone regarding insurance eligibility and related information.
- Answer phones and assist patients as needed.
- Support front office reception by checking patients in and collecting required paperwork and payments.
- Obtain referrals and authorizations for upcoming appointments and dialysis services.
- Assist with VA authorizations and related administrative processes.
- Assist with miscellaneous billing operations.
- Support patient check-out and schedule follow-up appointments.
- Maintain accurate patient and insurance information in electronic systems.
- Provide professional and courteous service to patients and healthcare team members.
