Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Health Assistant for the 20262027 school year to support students in grades 612. As the Health Assistant, you will positively represent the school and its mission to students, staff, and the broader community. In this role, you will work collaboratively with the receptionist and office team to ensure a welcoming, safe, and efficient environment that meets the needs of all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate effectively with school staff and administration

Serve as a liaison between teachers, administrators, parents, and community healthcare providers

Provide care for acute health needs, including emergencies

Perform delegated health procedures in alignment with student healthcare plans and School Nurse Consultant training (e.g., diabetes, asthma, severe allergies support)

Administer first aid in accordance with district guidelines, including treatment of head injuries, fractures, and lacerations

Prepare medications for students attending field trips

Maintain accurate and compliant documentation for all health room procedures, including medications and first aid

Support the school nurse with vision and hearing screening programs

Manage medication administration, including proper storage, documentation, authorizations, and required staff training

Maintain confidential student health records in compliance with FERPA regulations

Assist in managing communicable disease protocols and outbreaks

Support immunization tracking and compliance under the direction of the School Nurse

Answer phone calls and assist with attendance tracking

Greet and assist visitors in a professional and welcoming manner

Support the receptionist and front office staff as needed

Assist students and families with check-in/check-out procedures

Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders

Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, etc.)

Ability to learn new systems quickly and efficiently

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Certification:

Current First Aid and CPR Certification (Colorado)

Schedule:

Day shift Monday to Friday School Year: 2026 - 2027 School Days: 173 Grades 6-12

Compensation: The pay range for this role is $17.80 - $27.45 USD per hour.

Responsibilities:

Ensure enrolling students meet the Colorado State immunization requirements prior to entering school; notify parents and school nurse consultant of incomplete immunization and/or noncompliance; complete the annual immunization state report.

Notify school nurse consultant of reportable communicable diseases.

Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Perform delegated procedures in accordance with the student's health care plan and training by the school nurse consultant, such as supervision and/or assistance with the daily management of a student's diabetes, asthma, and severe allergies.

Document health related services in designated Medicaid documentation system for the DCSD School Medicaid Reimbursement Program as assigned.

Provide first aid for students per District guidelines, including caring forehead injuries, fractures, and lacerations.

Maintain appropriate documentation for all health room procedures, including medications, delegated procedures, and first aid in accordance with District guidelines.

Administer prescribed scheduled and non-scheduled medications to students in accordance with physician orders and District policy; prepare medication for students attending field trips.

All salary amounts listed above are based on a full-time (1.0) FTE. If applicable, part-time salaries will be prorated according to the assigned FTE.
