About the role

Novolex’s Chelmsford, MA plant seeks a hands-on HSE professional to set strategy, ensure compliance, and drive measurable improvements in safety and environmental performance while embedding a robust safety culture.

• Safety leadership: Organize and lead the site Safety Committee to elevate engagement and awareness.
• Training: Develop, facilitate, and deliver safety training aligned to site risks and corporate standards.
• Incident management: Direct investigations for illnesses, injuries, accidents, and near misses; identify root causes and verify corrective actions.
• Emergency preparedness: Maintain emergency response plans and coordinate site drills.
• Policy and procedure management: Create and maintain programs to meet regulatory and corporate requirements, including SOPs, LOTO, Hearing Conservation, and Powered Industrial Trucks.
• Regulatory reporting: Prepare OSHA and other governmental reports on time and with accuracy.
• Metrics: Track and distribute leading indicators and incident rate reports to stakeholders.
• Auditing: Conduct routine plant EHS audits; mitigate hazards in partnership with operations and maintenance.
• Documentation: Receive, catalog, and maintain plant SDSs.
• Additional duties as assigned.

• Change driver committed to prevention, compliance, and risk reduction.
• Influencer who can align cross-functional teams and participate actively on the site leadership team.

• BS in safety, industrial hygiene, or an environmental field (preferred) and 3–5 years of related experience.
• Spanish bilingual skills preferred.
• Proficient with word processing and spreadsheets.
• Strong problem-solving, organization, and time management; thrives under competing deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.

• Facility operates 24/5 with occasional weekend staffing. EHS coverage during non-traditional hours may be required for training, meetings, or incident investigations.
• Physical demands: standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing, and occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
• Manufacturing setting with seasonal heat/cold and machinery noise, including exposure during maintenance and facility repairs.
• Ability to wear appropriate PPE.

• Base pay range: $100,000–$125,000 + bonus + benefits (reasonable current estimate).
• The posted range reflects minimum and maximum target salaries for this position across all US locations.
• Actual pay within the range depends on job-related skills, experience, and relevant education/training.
• It is not typical at Novolex to hire at the top of the range; compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case.
