Working Conditions

Positions at the Water Boards may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position .

• Experience with evaluating and reviewing engineering analyses and reports, preparing scientific and engineering reports/letters, and providing technical feedback.
• Knowledge and/or experience in environmental laws and regulations related to water quality, recycled water, and pretreatment program.
• Experience and/or knowledge on prescribing National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit, Waste Discharge Requirements (WDRs) permit, and /or Water Reclamation Requirements (WRRs or Recycling) permit.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to make independent decisions grounded in scientifically viable approaches through thorough research.
• An understanding of contaminants’ fate and transport in the environment and principles governing the movement of contaminants in groundwater.

Statement of Qualifications (SOQ)

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be submitted along with the State Application and serves as documentation of candidate’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. It should be typed, no more than two (2) pages in length, using Arial 12-point font , and normal margins.

Indicate your total years of experience and provide examples when answering the following statements/questions:

1. Describe your experience in research, writing findings for reports/publications, and making independent decisions based on findings.
2. Describe your experience and/or education in researching, analyzing, interpreting, and applying environmental laws and regulations related to water quality, recycled water, and pretreatment program.
3. Describe your experience, education, and/or knowledge in NPDES/WDRs/WRRs permits and pretreatment program.
4. Describe your experience with reviewing technical documents, providing feedback, and presenting technical information to various audiences.
5. Describe your experience, education, and/or knowledge of wastewater treatment technologies.
6. Describe your proficiency with computer applications (Microsoft Office, ArcGIS, etc.), as well as your knowledge/experience related to groundwater modeling and contaminants’ fate and transport in groundwater basins.
