Responsibilities Assist the oral surgeon during surgical procedures including extractions, implant placement, bone grafting, biopsies, and other in‑office surgeries. Prepare the treatment room, surgical trays, instruments, and anesthesia equipment. Monitor patients during surgery, including managing suction, passing instruments, and maintaining sterile technique. Take and process panoramic, periapical, and 3D cone beam CT images as needed. Provide detailed post‑operative instructions to patients and caregivers. Sterilize instruments and maintain a clean, OSHA‑compliant surgical environment. Record patient medical histories, treatment notes, and surgical documentation accurately. Manage inventory of surgical supplies and ensure timely ordering and restocking. Support patient education and build trust through clear communication and professionalism. Assist with sedation monitoring (nitrous and IV), following office protocols and state guidelines. Qualifications 2+ years of experience as a dental assistant, preferably in an oral surgery or surgical dental setting. DAANCE Certification preferred. Proficient in surgical assisting techniques and infection control protocols. Comfortable with taking high‑quality radiographs and CBCT scans. Able to anticipate needs during procedures and remain calm under pressure. Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and patient rapport. Reliable, punctual, detail‑oriented, and a strong team player. Ability to maintain discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality. Dental Assistant certification or registration preferred, as required by state law. Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
