Description Job Title: Business Analyst - Healthcare Insurance Job Type: 12 Months Contract Work Location: Durham, NC, 27707 - Hybrid Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Pay range: $25-$32/hr. on W2 Position Overview We are seeking a Business Analyst with healthcare insurance experience to support business process improvement, requirements gathering, and compliance-related initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong process mapping, documentation, Excel, and data analysis skills, along with the ability to collaborate across multiple business functions. Key Responsibilities
- Gather, document, validate, and track business and functional requirements for process improvements and system changes.
- Analyze existing business processes to identify gaps in workflows, ownership, data management, and internal controls.
- Develop future-state process models and operating procedures in collaboration with Compliance, Legal, Sales, Finance, and Data/Reporting teams.
- Define business and data requirements for intake, regulatory applicability, reporting, payments, billing, reconciliation, and audit activities.
- Create and maintain process maps, RACI matrices, decision logs, RAID logs, requirements documentation, and project backlogs.
- Develop and maintain reporting tools to measure business performance, support operational decisions, and ensure data accuracy.
- Analyze business data and reporting results to identify improvement opportunities and recommend corrective actions.
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings and cross-functional discussions to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and maintain alignment.
- Support business readiness, change management, communication planning, and training activities.
- Collaborate with project teams to maintain solution scope, requirements traceability, and implementation readiness.
- Bachelor's degree or advanced degree, where required. Candidates without a degree may qualify with at least five years of relevant experience.
- 3+ years of experience in business analysis or a related field.
- Experience in healthcare insurance, preferably within a health insurance payer environment.
- Strong skills in requirements elicitation, business process mapping, and workflow analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and business data analysis.
- Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience facilitating cross-functional discussions and translating business needs into clear requirements.
- Experience with healthcare payer operations or Administrative Services Only (ASO) models.
- Familiarity with billing, finance, reconciliation, or regulatory compliance workflows.
- Experience with Power BI, SQL, Jira, or SharePoint.
- Knowledge of healthcare insurance assessments, fees, state mandates, or regulatory implementation.
- Previous experience working with health insurance organizations.
