Facility Operations Supervisor

Facility Operations Supervisor – Chicago, IL Shift: 1st 7am‑5pm Pay: $80‑$85K Responsibilities Lead front‑line production‑driven, safety‑conscious team in plant operations including shipping, receiving, and blending. Coordinate the offload and perform the offloading of tankers of high‑temperature asphalt into rail cars. Supervise a team of 2‑3 technician‑level employees. Work with the transportation team and the East Chicago facility to ensure effective planning of inbound loaded tankers and prevent interruption to refinery operations. Supervise daily truck‑to‑rail transloading operation of hot asphalt products. Mentor employees in handling hot material that can lead to potential burn hazards. Develop and conduct training for new hires; follow up to ensure they are trained properly and signed off. Review all applicable standard operating procedures (SOPs) annually and ensure compliance. Act as the recognized subject‑matter expert in the area(s) of responsibility. Enforce Health and Safety rules, SOPs, and site‑specific policies, holding employees accountable when they do not comply. Ensure employees understand area‑specific permit and compliance standards and have ownership of them. Work under direction of the Facilities Operations Manager or equivalent. Maintain a clean work environment in the areas of responsibility. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. 3 + years supervisory experience in an industrial environment (petro‑chemical experience a plus). Experience managing larger teams preferred. Strong leadership, communication, documentation, and organizational skills. Computer literate; proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Windows‑based applications. Experience writing HOTWORK permits is a plus. Rail and tanker knowledge dealing with liquids is a must. Ability to streamline and improve processes; work well under pressure and pivot as needed. Knowledge of scanning applications, EOM scanning SOPs, VPI/pick sheets. Proficiency in multiple site‑specific plant operations (not a desk job on the floor).
