PROTESTANT CHAPLAIN

Salary: $33.13 - $43.51 per Hour (minimum salary applied to new to state candidates) Job Summary Permanent, intermittent appointment in the Protestant Chaplain classification within Enhancement Services. The role is supervised by the Program Assistant and works in conjunction with the Full Time Protestant Chaplain to provide coverage of religious services. Responsibilities Prepare and conduct Protestant religious services and other rituals of Protestant tradition for patients. Provide spiritual counseling in groups and individually on units. Counsel patients and families on moral and ethical issues. Establish rapport with patients, analyze situations accurately, and determine an effective course of action. Use spiritual assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation within the clinical setting. Help patients discover meaning in suffering, grief, and loss. Understand how psychosocial dynamics and cultural/ethical differences influence pastoral care practices. Work independently with minimal supervision, exercising sound judgment and initiative. Provide coverage for religious services alongside the Full Time Protestant Chaplain. Minimum Requirements Background investigation cleared prior to hire. Medical clearance obtained prior to hire. Successful completion of the Protestant Chaplain Exam Bulletin.
