This role is on our "Groups, Creators, and Social" team at Strava, a cross-functional group dedicated to enhancing how athletes connect and interact on our platform. The team collaborates with engineers from all of Strava’s technical areas—iOS, Android, Web, and Server—as well as with diverse partners to develop engaging, athlete-facing features. We are pivotal in creating and managing major tools and services such as messaging, posts, video, photos, and clubs that define the social fabric of Strava. You’re excited about this opportunity because you will: Engage in pioneering projects that influence how athletes communicate and share experiences, playing a key role in developing core functionalities that are central to the user experience. Participate in the evolution of Strava’s technology landscape, contributing to the adoption of advanced technologies and practices. Take on responsibilities that expand your leadership capabilities and technical expertise within a forward-thinking team. Directly impact the experience of tens of millions of athletes. You will be successful here by: Demonstrating empathy for athletes and their experience while using Strava Taking ownership of your work, and partnering with cross-functional peers to ensure services are properly scoped and implemented. Building well-documented and easy-to-use systems that are quickly and widely adopted across our engineering organization. Contributing to an inclusive and collaborative team culture Building beautiful, smooth, delightful mobile experiences. Mentoring other engineers and providing technical leadership to the team through forums like tech talks. Using your in-depth knowledge of all things Android to help drive technical conversations with peers from different backgrounds, across different teams. Be willing to explore and learn new technologies outside of your comfort zone We’re excited about you because: Have experience building Android applications in a production environment using Kotlin. Jetpack compose experience is a nice to have Have experience working with large, modularized applications that use dependency injection tools and GraphQL is a nice to have Stay up to date and experiment with the latest Android technologies. Have a product-focused mindset. Our team works together to deliver projects that use technology to solve real business problems. Enjoy working on mobile apps at all levels – from networking up to user interfaces and everything in between. Have experience building maintainable and testable code bases, including API design and unit testing techniques. Can collaborate with Android, iOS, and Server engineers to ship features.
