School Psychologist York School District One Education Service Center - York, South Carolina This job is also posted in CERRA-SC, and York School District One Job Details Job ID: 5689742 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: May 04, 2026 4:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Immediately Job Description York School District One Special Services School Psychologist Reports To: Director of Special Services FLSA Status: Exempt Terms of Employment: 205 days per school year; salary and work year to be established by the Board Job Summary: To assess students’ intellectual and functional levels, develop behavior plans; provide information on child development issues to school personnel and parents, collaborate with community agencies regarding individual student plans, and provide recommendations for program development and student placement. Qualifications: South Carolina certification as required for the position (Level II Psychologist) or eligible for appropriate certification Excellent written and oral communication skills Evidence of successful work relationships with colleagues Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable Essential Duties: Assesses students’ functional capabilities and home and/or classroom environment to determine students’ functional level and develop recommendations and/or placement. Communicates with students and/or parents with teachers and/or other personnel to evaluate situations, solve problems, and/or resolve conflicts. Consults with teachers, parents, other personnel, and/or outside professionals to provide requested information, develop plans for services, and/or make recommendations. Actively participates in school MTSS teams and processes. Coordinates with community agencies, including medical, judicial, social service, and mental health services, to determine appropriate treatments to meet the needs of specific students. Facilitates meetings and processes to ensure curriculum guidelines are met and/or state mandates are achieved. Implements school-wide program development and program evaluation (e.g., crisis intervention services) to ensure effective programs to assist children who experience physical, mental, social, or emotional difficulties. Intervenes in occurrences of inappropriate behavior of students to assist students in modifying such behavior and develop successful interpersonal skills. Manages assigned special grants and/or projects (e.g., budget, reports, goals) to ensure that specifications are achieved. Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions. Prepares written materials (e.g., reports, student activities, correspondence) to document activities and provide written reference. Presents information (e.g., budget overviews, accounting processes, distribution formulas) to communicate information and gain feedback while ensuring adherence to internal controls. Researches resources and methods (e.g., intervention and treatment techniques, assessment tools and methods, community resources) for addressing students’ functional goals. Supervises interns, practicum students, and others to monitor performance and support professional growth. Assists other personnel to support them in completing their work activities. Provides services to children, parents, teachers, administrators, paraprofessional staff, community agencies, and the school system through a variety of methods. Knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes social, emotional, cognitive, physical, language, and academic factors in children that affect the learning process; use of advanced intervention, prevention, and follow-up techniques and processes. Abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include maintaining confidentiality; communicating with diverse groups; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working as part of a team; and working with frequent interruptions. Working Conditions Generally, the job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing. Requires fine finger dexterity to use office equipment and maintain accurate filing systems. Coordinate a variety of difficult administrative functions within established rules, policies, and procedures. Must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. May experience constant interruptions, inflexible deadlines, and changes to normal routines.
