Role Overview

The Inventory Control Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and supporting the efficient flow of materials throughout ASC's manufacturing operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring raw materials, work-in-progress inventory, and finished goods are properly received, tracked, stored, and issued to support production schedules and customer commitments.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position works closely with Purchasing, Production, Shipping, and Warehouse teams to maintain inventory accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Success in this role will be measured through inventory accuracy, timely transaction processing, material availability, and overall operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, store, issue, and track raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods throughout the facility.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure inventory transactions are processed promptly and accurately.
• Perform routine cycle counts and assist with physical inventory audits and reconciliation activities.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies, identify root causes, and work with leadership to implement corrective actions.
• Organize warehouse locations, material storage areas, and inventory labeling systems to maximize efficiency and accuracy.
• Support material movement between departments, production areas, and company facilities as required.
• Coordinate with Purchasing, Production, and Shipping teams to ensure materials are available to support production schedules and customer deliveries.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate material shortages, excess inventory, or inventory concerns to leadership.
• Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment in accordance with company safety standards.
• Maintain accurate receiving, shipping, and inventory documentation.
• Assist with material staging and preparation of inventory for production and project requirements.
• Support implementation and maintenance of inventory control procedures and best practices.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and inventory control environment.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory accuracy, warehouse organization, material flow, and operational efficiency.
• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, material handling, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of inventory management principles, inventory transactions, and material flow processes.
• Experience using QuickBooks, ERP systems, inventory management software, or similar inventory tracking tools.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general computer applications.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain high levels of accuracy in inventory records and transactions.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to analyze inventory discrepancies and assist with problem-solving and corrective actions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining collaboration with internal teams.
• Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic.
• Commitment to safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
• Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain certification.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, inventory optimization, or continuous improvement methodologies preferred.

Required Education & Training

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, Operations, or a related field preferred.
• Inventory management, warehouse operations, or logistics-related training preferred.
• Forklift certification preferred.
• OSHA safety training is a plus.
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Ability to regularly work in warehouse, manufacturing, and inventory storage environments.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and move throughout the facility during an 8+ hour shift.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and material handling equipment.
• Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, noise levels, and manufacturing activity.
• Ability to use computers, handheld scanners, inventory systems, and related technology throughout the workday.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all safety requirements.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining attention to detail.
