Position Overview

Join a dedicated team in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) located in Overland Park, KS. Our unit specializes in providing care for patients experiencing moderate physiological instability, particularly those with cardiac and pulmonary conditions.

Unit Specifics

• Number of Beds: 18
• Patient Ratios: 1:4-5
• Staffing: 2 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) and 1 Unit Secretary
• Type of Equipment: Alaris pumps, Kangaroo pumps, Pyxis systems, and computers in every room
• Documentation System: Meditech

Scheduling Requirements

• Self-scheduling with 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
• No on-call requirements

Floating Policy

Staff may float as follows:

• Travelers
• PRN staff
• Last floated date

Patient Experience Focus

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Unit Guidelines

Please refer to the unit-specific policies and guidelines for patient care standards and performance expectations.

Position Requirements

• Must possess current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.
• Ability to monitor patients requiring cardiac and respiratory management every 2-4 hours.
• Experience caring for patients with COPD exacerbations, pneumonia, CHF, and tracheostomy needs.

Nursing Interventions

Responsibilities include:

• Oxygen therapy including Nasal Cannula, BiPAP/CPAP, and AirVo.
• Vital signs monitoring every 4 hours.
• Continuous cardiac monitoring.
• Blood glucose monitoring every 4 hours.
• Neurological assessments with NIHSS as needed.
