Check out this video for more information!Within this role, you will participate in a six-month training program in which you will learn the specialized duties of a Transportation Equipment Operator A. This trainee position will help you learn to safely operate equipment and perform manual labor tasks needed for highway and bridge maintenance. As a PennDOT CDL Operator Trainee, you will perform the following duties:Equipment Training: Train to operate heavy trucks, loaders, and other maintenance equipmentControl Use: Operate hand and foot controls, use seat belts, and install or remove tire chainsManual Labor: Use motorized and non motorized tools to complete tasks such as cutting brush, repairing guiderails, and cleaning culvertsTool Care: Select tools properly, minimize wear, and report broken or missing equipmentSafety Practices: Follow safety procedures, report incidents promptly, and stay aware of hazards in the work areaEnvironmental Compliance: Apply environmental protection requirements and complete training responsibilities for the roleWork Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employmentWork hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.Hours may vary and overtime may be required during weather events.Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.You will receive further communication regarding this position via email.
