Clinical Dietitian

Location 80 Seymour Street (10008) Job Summary Responsible for providing clinical nutrition services, including nutrition assessment, modified diet formulation, self‑management training, and nutrition intervention to patients/residents. Ensures patient satisfaction, quality care, regulatory agency compliance, and good public relations through safe and efficient use of resources. Responsibilities Assess nutritional status of patients/residents/customers and develop an individualized nutrition care plan; monitor effectiveness of the plan per standards of care. Coordinate nutritional care with food services. Perform nutrition‑focused physical exams; diagnose and treat malnutrition with appropriate care plans; serve as an expert on malnutrition. Educate other members of the health care team on malnutrition. Document nutrition assessments, interventions and follow‑up care in the EMR per policy; track caseload, complexity and time spent in indirect care activities. Provide nutrition education and outreach to the local community; participate in hospital community nutrition education programs; develop education materials for community programs. Provide guidance, education and direction to clinical dietetic technicians, food and nutrition employees, interns, and other staff as appropriate. Qualifications – Minimum Requirements Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics or related field. Experience: None. Licensure, Certification, Registration: Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (Commission on Dietetic Registration) and must obtain Certified Dietitian‑Nutritionist (CT Department of Public Health) within 90 days of hire. Language Skills: Must read, write and speak English. Work Schedule: Rotating weekend coverage every 7th weekend and typically one holiday per year. Preferred Requirements Education: Master’s Degree in Nutrition or related field. Experience: One year of work experience in clinical nutrition. Language Skills: Additional languages are a plus.
