Reading Interventionist, Alpha - $120,000/year USD
$120kCrossover for Work
$120,000 annual salary, paid weekly, with health, dental, and vision benefits starting day one Full-time on-site at an Alpha campus in Beverly Hills, CA; La Jolla (San Diego), CA; Malibu, CA; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; San Francisco, CA; Santa Monica, CA; Seattle, WA; Greenwich, CT; Boston, MA; or New York City, NY (relocation assistance available) 40-hour workweek, entirely in-classroom with grades K-3 $120,000 annual salary, paid weekly, with health, dental, and vision benefits starting day one Full-time on-site at an Alpha campus in Beverly Hills, CA; La Jolla (San Diego), CA; Malibu, CA; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; San Francisco, CA; Santa Monica, CA; Seattle, WA; Greenwich, CT; Boston, MA; or New York City, NY (relocation assistance available) 40-hour workweek, entirely in-classroom with grades K-3 Your structured-literacy certification — Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson, IMSE, or a Master's in reading — opened the door at every K-3 reading position you pursued. In most settings, it also marked the limit: you executed an existing program and documented progress. Here, the certification is your entry point. If that difference is important to you, continue reading. Alpha has fundamentally redesigned instruction. Students advance through academic content independently using AI-adaptive applications. There are no lectures, no textbooks, no district pacing calendars. Your function is the one area where human expertise cannot be replaced. You create 20-minute small-group sessions driven by live app data; sessions are deliberately brief, because targeted instruction outperforms duration. You also lead motivation sessions designed to ensure 100% of students reach their weekly app targets through Alpha's motivational framework (campus currency, leaderboards, developmentally appropriate gamification). You catch a miscue during a session, identify the phonemic deficit, and redesign tomorrow's workshop before the day ends. That is the expectation. Families enrolling at these campuses selected Alpha for results, not simply enrollment. Parents receive weekly reports on their child's reading progress and they engage directly. You will face specific questions about individual student advancement, and vague reassurances will not suffice. You will reference the running record, identify the phonemic gap, and describe your intervention. That level of accountability should energize you, not burden you. Your initial months center on establishing credibility. Workshops must be engaging, appropriately leveled, and demonstrably effective; student satisfaction and "love your Guide" survey scores (target 90%+) provide direct feedback. As you demonstrate success, your influence extends beyond your classroom: strategies that succeed with your students become templates adopted across other Alpha campuses, and your diagnostic precision informs how reading instruction evolves as Alpha expands. Your impact reaches far beyond your room. Before hiring, you will submit a brief video in which you tell an engaging story for young children, and you will spend a full day on campus working directly with K-3 students. Low energy with children will disqualify you, regardless of credential strength. This is intentional. What You Will Be Doing Creating small-group K-3 reading sessions using real-time adaptive-app data, rooted in structured-literacy approaches (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LETRS, IMSE, or equivalent) Leading daily motivation sessions that ensure 100% of students meet their weekly app targets using Alpha's motivational system (campus currency, leaderboards, age-appropriate gamification) Analyzing AI-generated performance metrics (fluency trajectories, decoding precision, comprehension indicators) to modify instruction during the day, not solely during planning periods Conducting running records, fluency assessments, and decoding diagnostics to generate measurable progress reflected in weekly campus data reviews Serving as the engaging, high-energy adult your K-3 students are excited to see each day What You Won’t Be Doing Implementing a commercially published reading curriculum, scripted lesson plan, or district timeline; you build lessons directly from student data Teaching whole-class lessons; all instruction occurs in targeted, small groups while students complete academic subjects through adaptive applications Serving as a reading consultant, instructional coach, or district-level specialist; you work in the classroom with children daily Operating a traditional classroom schedule: subject-by-subject lectures, homework correction, test preparation. Your time is structured around workshops, motivation sessions, and data-informed small groups Creating IEPs, 504 plans, or formal diagnostic documentation; student progress is captured in app data and your running records, not special-education forms Reading Interventionist Key Responsibilities Deliver quantifiable K-3 reading improvement across phonics, fluency, and comprehension within a campus environment where outcomes are assessed weekly. Basic Requirements Structured-literacy certification (Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson Reading System, IMSE, CERI, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent) OR a Master's degree in reading instruction Bachelor's degree in any field, plus 2+ years of full-time K-3 structured reading instruction in a school or clinical environment within the past 5 years, utilizing systematic phonics or structured literacy Proven capacity to create original reading lessons and clearly explain your instructional approach and content, independent of a published program Willingness to work full-time on-site at an Alpha campus: Beverly Hills, CA; La Jolla (San Diego), CA; Malibu, CA; Palo Alto, CA; Piedmont, CA; San Francisco, CA; Santa Monica, CA; Seattle, WA; Greenwich, CT; Boston, MA; or New York City, NY (relocation assistance provided) Willingness to teach all K-3 students (not exclusively struggling readers) and incorporate AI and adaptive-learning technologies into daily instruction as these tools develop Legal authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship Nice-to-have Requirements Practical experience with AI-enabled or adaptive reading platforms (e.g., Amira, Lexia, i-Ready, Reading Plus) for instructional planning or student data interpretation Documented history of measurable reading outcomes (fluency gains in WCPM, accuracy improvements, decoding level advancement) that you can cite with specific numbers Familiarity with diagnostic reading assessments (DRA, DIBELS, AIMSweb) for creating differentiated instructional groups Experience in high-accountability educational settings (independent schools, elite charter networks, premium tutoring environments where families actively monitor outcomes) Background in performance, youth sports coaching, or other contexts where you held the attention of a K-3 audience outside traditional reading instruction About Alpha Join the team building school around student growth Alpha reimagines the school day around faster learning, stronger mentorship, and more time for students to build real-world skills.
