About This Role

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire is seeking dedicated team members to join our Early Care and Education Center at Plymouth State University. Starting in August 2026, we will be operating under the umbrella of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire. Our high-quality early childhood program serves as both a nurturing learning environment for young children and a hands-on training site for university students. Grounded in developmentally appropriate, play-based practices, the center supports children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth while fostering strong partnerships with families and the university community.

What You'll Do

Serve Young Children and Support Their Growth

  • Cultivates a positive, inclusive, and responsive classroom environment that encourages child development and learning, and serves as a demonstration site for best practices in early childhood education.
  • Builds strong relationships with children, families, and colleagues, responding thoughtfully to individual needs, interests, and developmental stages.
  • Provides nurturing and positive child guidance using strategies aligned with the Pyramid Model Framework, and models best practices for college observers and practicum students.
  • Develops and implements curriculum that honors emergent practices, incorporating intentional planning and reflection with the teaching team.
  • Uses systematic observation and documentation as tools for curriculum planning, teaching, and assessing member growth and development, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Prioritizes the health, safety, and well-being of children, ensuring regulatory compliance and ethical practice in daily operations.
  • Monitors program effectiveness, tracking outcome metrics, and collaborating with colleagues to reflect on practices and improve the quality of care.
  • Maintains open communication with families, sharing daily updates, and engaging them in planning, parent conferences, and family education events.
  • Guards the safety and well-being of children, modeling active supervision and adhering to safety protocols.
  • Ensures that teaching practices align with NAEYC standards, GSQ, Culture DNA code, and BGCCNNH and CCLU policies, using these standards to inform instruction and improve student learning.
  • Administers medications, provides first aid, and communicates effectively with families, demonstrating professionalism and adherence to company policies.
  • Maintains a well-organized, safe, and visually appealing classroom environment, modeling best practices for observers and assisting with cleaning and upkeep.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications :

  • Master’s degree in Early Childhood, Pre-School Education, Youth Development, or Elementary Education with at least 6 credits in Early Childhood or Pre-School Education and 3 years of experience in teaching young children (B-5). Supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood, Pre-School Education, Youth Development, or Elementary Education with at least 6 credits in Early Childhood or Pre-School Education and 3-5 years of experience in teaching young children (B-5).
  • Knowledge and ability to implement current methods, principles, and techniques of ECE teaching, including constructivism, emergent curriculum, project work, and the Pyramid Model Framework.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development and application.
  • Ability to form developmentally appropriate relationships with children and promote positive behavior.
  • Ability to motivate members and manage behavior problems with patience using positive guidance strategies and the Pyramid Model Framework.
  • Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
  • Ability to communicate with staff, families, college students, and adult learners in a variety of methods.
  • Must be willing to maintain an appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Meet the needs, abilities, and interests of the children. Observe, assess, and record children’s progress and maintain children’s records, including for special education or early intervention.
  • Must be trained in supervision, coaching, and mentoring of adult learners.
  • Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications per Bureau of Childcare licensing requirements.
  • Must obtain a NH Credential within 6 months of start date.
  • Must obtain required NH health and safety trainings within 90 days from the hire date.
  • Must obtain full Pyramid Model e-Module training within one year of the start date.
  • May be required to drive the Club van/short bus periodically.
  • Must possess a safe driving record and submit a copy of such record to either the Operations Director or the Human Resources department.
  • Must maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be willing to travel between locations when requested.

ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS:

  • All of the candidates that are offered a job with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire will have to submit to an FBI fingerprint background check and submit to a background check through the State of NH Criminal Records Dept. and FirstAdvantage.
  • Obtain NH Health Record within 60 days of hire.
  • Expected to meet monthly with the Director and complete the annual evaluations process. Participate in college student or adult learner meetings. Attend staff meetings, participate in committees, and work on special projects. Follow and uphold all procedures and policies of the BGCCNNH, Keene State College, and Plymouth State University as applicable. Ensure supervising and teaching with the most updated professional knowledge and information by attending conferences, workshops, and keeping current with course literature. Maintain professional development hours as determined by NH Credential. Assume administrative designation in the director’s absence.

Any such mistreatment or abuse by an employee will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment and cooperation with law enforcement.
