The City of San Bernardino Municipal Water Department is seeking a self-starter able to work in a fast-paced environment responsible for supervising, planning, coordinating and scheduling the activities of the engineering, development, and GIS/mapping, and construction management services necessary for Water Utility, Water Reclamation, Sewer Collections, hydro-generation and geothermal systems, new or in-fill development, and mapping and database management including, but not limited to, reviewing engineering programs, projects and activities and project management. Incumbent will supervise, evaluate and develop assigned staff; ensure work quality and accuracy; supervise and participate in the gathering and compiling of data; provide responsible and complex administrative support; and perform related work as required. The class of Engineering Manager is the supervisory level within the engineering series. Incumbents assume responsibility for planning, assigning, supervising and reviewing the work of staff responsible for providing engineering services. Supervision is received from the Director of Water Utility. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Social Science, Geology, Geography, Mathematics, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or other applicable engineering or technical filed. Additionally, the candidate will have at least 5 years of professional and supervisory experience in a water, wastewater, public works, or environmental engineering field which should include 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity, a valid certificate of registration as professional engineer issued by the State of California, and a valid California Class "C" driver's license.The San Bernardino Municipal Water Department offers a complete benefits package to full-time Mid-Management Unit employees including health care, dental, vision, retirement, deferred compensation plans, flexible spending accounts, life and AD&D insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, holidays, vacation, administrative, and sick leave.
