Mechanic I

Reports To: Director of Transportation

Salary: (Grade 59: $2,879.98 Monthly Starting Salary)

General Duties:

• Ability to locate and diagnose minor and frequently occurring mechanical problems.
• Ability to repair and replace damaged parts of vehicles bodies using acetylene or electric welding equipment as well as other repair equipment.
• Ability to remove, replace and reassemble transmissions, clutches, fuel, oil, and water pumps, generators and other parts of the motor block and suspension.
• Ability to fill fuel trucks and add or change oil and filters.
• Any other duties and responsibilities that are assigned by the Mechanic Foreman, Mechanic II or Director.

Qualifications:

• A high school diploma.
• Obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License Class A or B with endorsements P & S within the first 3 months of employment.
• Obtain and maintain NC DPI School Bus Inspection License within first year of employment.
• Three years of experience in the repair and maintenance of automotive equipment.
• Technical training in automotive equipment preferred.
