Job Title: Custodian/Groundskeeper

Reports To: School Principal

FLSA Status: Nonexempt - 12 month position

Salary Grade: 5B ($14.51-$17.04-$19.58)/hr.

SUMMARY


Keeps schools, gyms, offices, housing used for education, church, and work areas in clean, safe, and orderly condition by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. *Indicates the non-essential duties and responsibilities. Nothing in this job description restricts St. Labre's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.

1. Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes, and vacuums classrooms, hallways, gym, stairs and office space.

2. Empties trash and garbage containers.

3. Dusts, washes, and sanitizes cabinets, desks, etc.

4. Fills paper towel and toilet paper dispensers.

5. Dusts all shelves.

6. Keeps all walls clean including bathroom stalls and mirrors. Washes all doors, both inside and outside and keeps entrance ways clean.

7. Washes and disinfects all toilet bowls, sinks, and water fountains.

8. Keeps all areas around light fixtures clean.

9. Shovels sidewalks and steps on each building wing during the winter months.

10. Keeps all custodial closets neat and clean.

11. Keeps paper supplies, garbage supplies, and cleaning solutions locked at all times.

12. Notifies supervisor concerning need for repairs or problems.

13. Guards school buildings, grounds, and property against theft, vandalism, trespassing, and all illicit acts during shift and during sports events and other activities.

14. Examines doors, windows, and gates to assure they are secure.


15. Maintains inventory of school supplies and assets.


* May be asked to drive School bus.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred; and


One to six months related experience and/or training preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES


1. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.


2. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations and with other employees.

3. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

4. Demonstrate respect to all.

5. Conduct work related tasks within assigned work area except for breaks.

6. Must conduct work in quiet manner so as not to disturb classrooms.

7. Respects the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ in private, personal, and public life.

8. Commitment to the mission of the Roman Catholic Church in Native American education.

9. Sensitivity to, and appreciation of Native American people and their cultures.

10. Ability to serve as an appropriate role model to students.

Valid MT driver's license required


CDL required if driving bus
