Maintenance Technician 1 - PainterWe are seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician 1 - Painter at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for completing basic repair of a variety of equipment in Manufacturing, Warehousing/Shipping, and other facilities. This role also maintains the appearance of Garmin aircraft in some locations.Essential FunctionsClean, scrape, sand, patch, tape, mud, and prime interior or exterior walls, ceilings, and structures to ensure optimal paint adhesionApply paints, stains, varnishes, and specialty protective coatings using brushes, rollers, or power spray equipmentPerform minor drywall patching, texture matching, caulking, and laminate or wood touch-upsFollow safety protocols for chemical handling and ventilation, wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE), and properly clean and store toolsAssess surface conditions, manage material inventory, and coordinate work with facilities management to minimize operational disruptionProvide basic maintenance and preventative maintenance and/or work orders in electrical, HVAC/Ref and plumbing to support OperationsProvide basic preventative maintenance, inspection and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment for defects and completes repairs as necessaryMaintain maintenance records by completing daily logs, recordings and pertinent information necessary for documentationExecute plans made by the supervisor while providing regular status updatesUtilize power & hand tools in accordance with safety rules and regulationsSuccessfully demonstrates knowledge of E-Scrap, recycling collection and disposal, conveyor system preventative maintenance, manufacturing production equipment preventative maintenance, and housekeepingAssist outside contractors, when necessary, in the maintenance of the physical plantAssist with controlling expendituresMaintain appropriate spare parts inventory for equipmentCompletely execute Lock Out/Tag Out of equipmentCleanliness zone area requirements: This position requires Garmin provided personal protective equipment including SD shoes (Static Dissipative Footwear) to be always worn for an entire shift to minimize the risk of electrostatic discharge (ESD) and meet specified standards.Basic QualificationsHigh School DiplomaMinimum of 1 year of experience performing a substantially similar rolePrevious machinery operation experienceMust demonstrate basic knowledge of machine automation systemsMust demonstrate basic knowledge of safe manufacturing /warehouse operationDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsDemonstrated strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting aptitudeDemonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office SuiteMust be able to lift 50 lbs. and push/pull 200 lbs., climb ladders, squat, kneel, crawl, stand an entire shift and walk long distances throughout the facility in performance of essential functionsDesired QualificationsExperience with automated assembly, testing, and conveying equipmentTechnical school certification in electronics, industrial or maintenance technology or related facilities degreeRefrigerant licenseElectrical Journeyman licenseGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
