Instructor/ Assistant Professor (Teaching) in Finance Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Instructor/ Assistant Professor (Teaching) in Finance at its Detroit campus location. Essential functions (job duties): The Department of Finance at Wayne State University’s Mike Ilitch School of Business is seeking to fill a non-tenure tack Assistant Professor (Teaching) or anInstructor (Teaching) position starting Fall 2026. Teach 4 courses (per semester) undergraduate/graduate courses in Finance Department. Manage assessment and Student progress with a Learning Management System (Canvas). Maintain and adapt curriculum that is current, effective, and appropriate to course and program competencies. Instruct students in a classroom, online (both synchronous and asynchronous modes) and/or hybrid setting. Provide meaningful service to the College and University. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Finance or a related field to be hired as an Assistant Professor (Teaching). A minimum of graduate degree in Finance to be hired as an instructor (Teaching). Doctoral students in their final year will be considered but must complete their Ph.D. by August 2026 . Candidates with some experience teaching at the college level. Preferred qualifications: We have a strong preference for those with a doctoral degree. A candidate without a doctoral degree will be hired as an instructor as per the institutional rules. A candidate with the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). The candidate must possess the qualifications necessary to be designated as a qualified faculty member in accordance with AACSB standard. Candidates who have taught or are interested in teaching Fixed Income Securities, Futures and Options, and a course in Data Analytics. Candidates who could serve as course coordinator for a core MBA course in the Finance Department. Candidates who could serve as the department’s career coach.
