Position Summary

At Hometown Coffee & Juice, our Runners help bring the customer experience together. As a Runner, you'll ensure food and beverages are delivered quickly, accurately, and with genuine hospitality. You'll stay aware of the dining room, support service flow, and work closely with the entire team to keep the café running smoothly.

This role is ideal for someone who is energetic, team-oriented, and always looking for the next way to help.

Our Northbrook café is scheduled to open in November 2026. Team members hired before opening will have the opportunity to begin training and work scheduled hours at our Glenview location. This allows you to get to know Hometown, build confidence in your role, and start earning hours before the Northbrook café officially opens.

What You'll Do Deliver Quality & Accuracy

• Deliver food and beverages quickly and accurately.
• Check orders before delivery to help ensure accuracy and presentation.
• Communicate with expo, kitchen, and FOH teammates when there are questions or issues with an order.
• Help maintain Hometown's standards for quality and hospitality with every customer interaction.

Keep Service Moving

• Stay aware of ticket flow, customer needs, and the overall pace of service.
• Anticipate where support is needed and step in proactively.
• Help keep the dining room, pickup areas, and service spaces organized throughout the shift.
• Support other FOH positions as needed during busy periods.

Create Great Customer Experiences

• Engage customers with warm, attentive, and genuine hospitality.
• Anticipate customer needs and respond quickly to requests.
• Help customers navigate the café and ensure they know where to pick up or receive their order.
• Address questions professionally and involve leadership when additional support is needed.

Maintain Cleanliness & Organization

• Regularly check and clean dining, service, and customer areas.
• Bus and reset tables promptly.
• Keep service areas stocked, organized, and customer-ready.
• Follow all sanitation and cleanliness procedures.

What You Bring

• Previous customer service or food service experience is preferred, but not required.
• A positive, customer-focused attitude.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized during busy periods.
• A willingness to jump in and support wherever needed.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds, including trays and supplies.
• Ability to move efficiently throughout the café during busy periods.

• Entregar alimentos y bebidas de manera rápida y precisa.
• Revisar los pedidos antes de entregarlos para ayudar a garantizar su precisión y presentación.
• Comunicarte con los equipos de expo, cocina y FOH cuando tengas preguntas o surjan problemas con un pedido.
• Ayudar a mantener los estándares de calidad y hospitalidad de Hometown en cada interacción con el cliente.

Mantener el Servicio en Movimiento

• Mantenerte atento al flujo de pedidos, las necesidades de los clientes y el ritmo general del servicio.
• Anticipar dónde se necesita apoyo y ayudar de manera proactiva.
• Ayudar a mantener el comedor, las áreas de recogida de pedidos y los espacios de servicio organizados durante todo el turno.
• Apoyar otras posiciones de FOH según sea necesario durante los períodos de mayor actividad.

Crear Excelentes Experiencias para los Clientes

• Atender a los clientes con una hospitalidad cálida, atenta y genuina.
• Anticipar las necesidades de los clientes y responder rápidamente a sus solicitudes.
• Ayudar a los clientes a orientarse en el café y asegurarte de que sepan dónde recoger o recibir su pedido.
• Responder preguntas de manera profesional e involucrar al equipo de liderazgo cuando se necesite apoyo adicional.

Mantener la Limpieza y Organización

• Revisar y limpiar regularmente las áreas del comedor, servicio y clientes.
• Retirar los platos de las mesas y prepararlas nuevamente de manera oportuna.
• Mantener las áreas de servicio abastecidas, organizadas y listas para los clientes.
• Seguir todos los procedimientos de limpieza y sanitización.

Lo Que Aportas

• Se prefiere experiencia previa en servicio al cliente o servicio de alimentos, pero no es indispensable.
• Una actitud positiva y enfocada en el cliente.
• Buenas habilidades de comunicación y trabajo en equipo.
• Capacidad para realizar múltiples tareas y mantenerse organizado durante períodos de alta actividad.
• Disposición para ayudar y apoyar donde sea necesario.

Requisitos Físicos

• Capacidad para permanecer de pie y caminar durante períodos prolongados en un ambiente de ritmo rápido.
• Capacidad para levantar y transportar hasta 30 libras, incluyendo bandejas y suministros.
• Capacidad para moverse eficientemente por el café durante períodos de alta actividad.
