Billing & Coding Specialist

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Abstracts and ensures accuracy of diagnosis, procedure, patient demographics, and other required data elements.Aids in the creation of training and educational coding guidance documents for physicians and AssociatesAbility to work independently and meet project deadlinesContacts physician when conflicting or ambiguous information appears in the medical record.Requests diagnosis from physicians when not recorded in medical records.Identifies coding trends relative to edits/denials/physician feedback.Recommend policy and procedural changes and improvements for revenue enhancement.Responsible and accountable for maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information.Follow HIPAA security policies and procedures affecting your job, and report any suspected or actual violation or breach.Working Conditions:Ability to sit for extended periods up to 8 hours working on a computer and telephone.Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.General indoor conditions.Noise: quiet to light noise.Weekend and evening work may be required.Occupational Hazards:Potential for musculoskeletal injuries if proper lifting and carrying techniques are not used.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position without compromising patient care.Minimum Job Qualifications:Education: High School Diploma required, Bachelors degree preferred.License/Certifications: CPC and CRC preferred or CCS-PLanguage Skills: EnglishOther Skills:Minimum 5 years of coding experienceExtensive coding in multiple specialties including: all primary care specialties, Gastroenterology, Pulmonary, Rheumatology, and hospital CCU/ICU.Excellent written and verbal communication skillsDetail oriented and deadline driven attitudeSound knowledge of medical terminologyStrong computer skills (Excel, Word, and internet) Ability to multitask and keep a sense of urgency Excellent customer service skillsStrong time management, organization skills, and work ethicAbility to interact effectively with physicians, liaisons, department administrators, and associates.Working knowledge of payer policies, CMS policies, local and national regulatory and compliance policies; regular utilization of all available coding resources.Personal Protective Equipment: Must be able and willing to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely. #J-18808-Ljbffr Rowan-Diagnostic-Clinic,-PA
