Gate Attendant

The Gate Attendant is responsible for monitoring entry and exit activity at the community gate, assisting residents and guests, and providing exceptional customer service. This position focuses on access management and communication and does not include security enforcement, patrol duties, or law enforcement activities. Maintaining a good relationship with the residents is required.

We are looking for an outstanding customer service professional to join our team as Gate Attendant staff members. These are full-time hourly roles. The hours at the gate house are 6:00am-10:00pm daily, 365 days a year with holidays being worked.

Compensation: $18.50-$20/hr. FirstService Residential will compensate the successful candidate in accordance with the posted range. The salary or wage paid to the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience, education, and specific job responsibilities. For positions designated at a client's property, the salary or wage will also be premised upon the client's directive. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Your Responsibilities:

• Greet owners and guests as they enter the gate with the highest level of customer service.
• Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of residents and visitors through the dwellingLIVE gate access computer system, checking valid IDs to confirm visitors are allowed on property. If a guest is not on the list, attempt to make contact with the owner. If a guest is not on the list and contact cant be made, deny entry to the property.
• Maintain regular and positive communication with each owner and abide by the culture created to enhance, and promote daily positive interaction among members of the FirstService Residential team.
• Monitors, logs, and screens messages, providing managers with necessary details for follow-through.
• Report safety, mechanical or operational concerns to Management.
• Write reports of daily activities and irregularities such as equipment or property damage, presence of unauthorized persons or unusual occurrences.
• Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time with a pleasant disposition to greet residents and guests cordially.
• Must be able to hear in order to receive telephone calls and interact with residents.
• Complete data entry into various systems in support of business needs.
• Work effectively with co-workers, clients and others by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner; listening to and objectively considering ideas and suggestions from others; keeping commitments; being willing to accept other tasks when requested, and respecting the diversity of our workforce in actions, words and deeds.
• Any other tasks as requested by Management.
• Practice and adhere to FirstService Residential Global Service Standards.
• Conduct business at all times with the highest standards of personal, professional and ethical conduct.
• Perform or assist with any operations as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules. Notify supervision of unusual equipment or operating problems and the need for additional material and supplies.
• May participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, policies, and regulatory guidelines.
• Ensure all safety precautions are followed while performing the work.
• Follow all policies and Standard Operating Procedures as instructed by Management.
• Perform any range of special projects, tasks and other related duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Must be able to work well under pressure, as well as work independently and prioritize time effectively.
• Ability to make decisions and solve problems creatively.

Education & Experience:

• Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Proficient in English; Spanish or other languages a plus.
• Must have valid California Drivers License.

• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 35 pounds.
• Must have finger dexterity for typing/using a keyboard.
• Must be able to hear to place and receive telephone calls and use voicemail system; Talking and hearing occur continuously in this position.
• The work environment characteristics are normal Gate Attendant conditions.
• Must be open to moving around the facilities if necessary.
• May be required to work overtime as needed and approved by supervisor; Operating hours may be altered to meet client demands.
• Consistent and regular attendance required.

Travel Requirements:

• Valid California State Drivers License and state-mandated insurance.
• Must have reliable transportation.
