Clinical Practice Highlights Physicians provide care for a diverse and highly complex patient population, including: Care of critically ill trauma, acute care surgery, and emergency general surgery patients in a high-volume tertiary and quaternary referral center Extensive experience managing complex blunt and penetrating trauma at a nationally recognized Level I Trauma Center Comprehensive postoperative management of complex surgical, transplant, and critically ill patients Cardiothoracic and surgical ICU care, including heart, lung, liver, kidney, and pancreas transplant populations Participation in one of the region's leading advanced mechanical support programs, including VV‑ECMO, VA‑ECMO, ECPR, LVADs, RVADs, Impella devices, and other temporary mechanical circulatory support technologies Academic Environment Baylor University Medical Center serves as a major teaching and referral center with active residency and fellowship programs. Candidates should have an interest in academic medicine through teaching, mentorship, quality improvement, research, leadership, or program development. Schedule Approximately 14 shifts per month 12‑hour shifts Flexible scheduling designed to support physician wellness and work‑life balance Qualifications Trauma and Acute Care Surgeons Board Certified in General Surgery Board Certified or Board Eligible in Surgical Critical Care Critical Care Physicians Board Certified in Emergency Medicine, Anesthesiology, Pulmonary Medicine, or Internal Medicine Board Certified or Board Eligible Critical Care Medicine with significant experience in ECMO, mechanical circulatory support, and cardiothoracic critical care are strongly encouraged to apply Compensation & Benefits Competitive base salary with productivity and quarterly bonuses Paid malpractice insurance $5,000 annual CME allowance Comprehensive benefits: medical, dental, vision, life, disability Safe Harbor 401(k) with matching No state income tax in Texas Why Baylor University Medical Center?
