Exam Room Assistant

About the Role: The exam room is the heart of our shelter, where animals receive their first point of care. As an Assistant Animal Health Technician / Exam Room Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring each animal's health and well-being. Your responsibilities will include:
- Administering medications and vaccines with precision and care
- Skillfully restraining animals for various medical procedures
- Cleaning and sanitizing cages, runs, floors, and rooms to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
- Providing basic daily necessities and compassionate care to our furry friends
What We're Looking For: The ideal candidate will have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- At least one year of hands-on animal handling experience, preferably in veterinary or shelter settings
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- The ability to work well under pressure in emotionally challenging situations
- Availability to work weekends
- Strong internal customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a Veterinary Technician or Assistant
- Experience with animal health and wellness exams, including vaccinations and bloodwork
- Familiarity with shelter medicine protocols and procedures
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team
- Compassion and empathy towards animals and their owners
