Residential Counselor

Duties and Responsibilities Participates in the planning and evaluations of individual service plans and monitors plan objectives. Write progress notes on service plan on a monthly basis or more often as needed. Trains and assists residents in the activities of daily living. Monitors medication. Responsible for accompanying residents and providing needed transportation for recreational and social activities. Provide counseling, behavioral intervention and crisis management services. Assist in day-to-day management of the community residence. Responsible for administration of residence in the absence of the Senior Counselor. Notifies the appropriate supervisory personnel of any medical, psychiatric, or programmatic emergency. (See Functional Program) Responsible for other related activities. Provides case management and follow-up services. Provides transportation, as needed, for shopping, medical appointments, etc. Learns and adheres to all agency policies and procedures on an ongoing basis. Accepts and follows through on all other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualification and Competencies High School Diploma and five years experience in the Human Service field. Or Bachelors degree in human service field Demonstrates organizational and communication skills which would enable effective interaction with agency staff, consumers/clients/families and the community. Critical thinking and sound judgment skills are necessary.
