Mentor Program Lead for Juvenile Probation

Responsible for the recruitment of new mentors and public relations, such as volunteer fairs, recruitment events at churches, businesses, social organizations. Oversees and supervises the Mentor Caseworker and the duties listed in managing the detention center mentor caseload. Provides orientation and interviews members of the community to become possible mentors for the juveniles involved with the Fort Bend County Juvenile Department. Communicates with the probation officers and the parent/guardian of the youth referred to the mentoring program. Intentionally builds a mentorship network. Builds and maintains relationships in the community. Actively participates in community events. Monitors, nurtures, and updates the case files and JCMS during the entire mentor/youth assignment. Provides one-to-one mentorship to youth as needed or to those not matched with a mentor. Assists with the caseloads for mentors that currently have a youth in JLA and Bridge Programs. Attends monthly meetings and participates in activities for the Fort Bend Community Prevention Coalition and United Way Fort Bend Connect. Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers. Minimum Job Requirements High School/GED; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. 4 years experience with juveniles in a secure facility or a residential treatment facility. Good computer and organizational skills; ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner. Strong verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees and elected officials. SALARY RANGE: $31.63 - $47.45 hourly based on qualifications CLOSING DATE: Upon filling position This position is eligible for additional compensation based upon state supplement and certification pay. For certain positions requiring certification, state standards shall disqualify an applicant if their criminal history reveals: A felony conviction against the laws of this state, another state, or the United States within the past 10 years; a deferred adjudication for a felony against the laws of this state, another state, or the United States within the past 10 years or current felony probation or parole; or A jailable misdemeanor conviction against the laws of this state, another state or the United States within the past 5 years; a deferred adjudication for a jailable misdemeanor against the laws of this state, another state, or the United States within the past 5 years or current misdemeanor probation or parole.
