JSJ Refrigeration LLC is a family-owned commercial refrigeration and foodservice equipment company based in Gilroy, California, serving the Bay Area and Northern California.

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Refrigeration Service Technician with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on commercial refrigeration experience to join our growing team.

Position Overview

We are looking for a skilled and dependable technician who can independently diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, install, and start up commercial refrigeration systems.

Our primary focus is commercial refrigeration , followed by commercial HVAC and hot-side foodservice equipment. Experience in all three is ideal, but strong commercial refrigeration experience is essential.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial refrigeration systems, including walk-in coolers, freezers, reach-in units, ice machines, and remote refrigeration systems.

• Install, connect, commission, and start up new refrigeration systems, including condensing units and evaporators.

• Perform copper piping installation, cutting, fitting, and brazing using proper refrigeration practices.

• Perform nitrogen pressure testing, leak detection, evacuation, and refrigerant charging.

• Verify system operation, including superheat, subcooling, operating pressures, temperatures, and electrical readings.

• Troubleshoot and replace compressors, fan motors, contactors, controls, valves, and other refrigeration components.

• Diagnose and service commercial HVAC systems, including rooftop package units and split systems.

• Troubleshoot and repair hot-side commercial foodservice equipment when qualified.

• Independently manage assigned service calls from diagnosis through completion.

• Complete service reports, equipment start-up documentation, and jobsite photos.

• Communicate professionally with customers and management.

• Maintain an organized company service vehicle, tools, and equipment.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of commercial refrigeration service experience.

• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.

• Experience with refrigeration piping, brazing, and system installations.

• Ability to independently commission and start up new refrigeration systems.

• Knowledge of proper evacuation, pressure testing, and refrigerant charging procedures.

• EPA Section 608 certification.

• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

• Ability to read wiring diagrams and refrigeration schematics.

• Dependable, organized, and professional.

Preferred Qualifications

• Commercial HVAC service and repair experience.

• Hot-side commercial kitchen equipment repair experience.

• Experience with remote refrigeration systems and multiple refrigerants.

• Experience handling emergency service calls.
