Your New Role & Accountabilities

As a Motion Graphics Designer at CNN, you aren’t just an animator; you are a visual journalist. You will partner with producers and editorial leads to define the visual language of our next generation of content.

• Multidisciplinary Animation: Design and execute high-end motion graphics for digital series, explainers, video podcasts, and breaking news.

• Visual Narrative Translation: Interpret complex scripts and raw data, turning them into accurate and engaging visual stories.

• Scalability & Systems: Build robust MOGRTs (Motion Graphics Templates) and toolkits to empower editors and maintain brand consistency across recurring franchises.

• Rapid Execution: Thrive in a high-pressure environment, delivering broadcast-quality animations on same-day turnarounds for breaking news while managing long-form feature projects.

• Brand Stewardship: Contribute to the visual evolution of CNN’s brand, ensuring all content meets our rigorous aesthetic and editorial standards.

Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for a creative powerhouse who understands that in news, speed and accuracy are just as vital as style.

• Professional Pedigree: 3–6+ years of experience in a fast-paced media, production, or news environment.

• Technical Mastery: Advanced expertise in After Effects (including expressions and scripting). Proficiency in the broader Adobe Creative Cloud is mandatory.

• Design Fundamentals: A deep understanding of typography, color theory, and composition.

• Specialized Tools: Familiarity with mapping tools like GEOlayers , Mapbox, and Google Earth Studio is highly preferred.

• 3D Skills: Experience with 3D animation (Cinema 4D or similar) is a significant advantage.

• Social & Streaming Fluency: Proven ability to optimize designs for vertical video, streaming interfaces, and social-first content.
