Housekeeping Manager
Position: Housekeeping Manager Reports to: Lodge Manager Level: Salaried Schedule: 6 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation, or as per manager's discretion and business needs
Scope
Responsible for the cleanliness, room readiness, and service standards of the assigned lodge — leading the site housekeeping and laundry team, owning the housekeeping budget, and managing room turnover, linen operations, and chemical safety compliance.
Primary Responsibilities
- Accountable and responsible for maintaining a safety culture, following all SOPs, JSAs, and policies and procedures as set out by Target Hospitality.
- Direct housekeeping and laundry operations at the assigned lodge, including guest rooms, dormitories, common areas, and service spaces.
- Lead, develop, and hold accountable the Housekeeping Supervisor and the site housekeeping and laundry team.
- Own the lodge housekeeping budget, managing labor, linen, chemical, and supply costs against occupancy.
- Plan and manage daily room assignments, cleaning schedules, and turnover to meet occupancy, arrival, and departure demand.
- Establish and enforce cleanliness and quality standards, and conduct regular room and common area inspections.
- Maintain accurate room status, room count, and deep-clean records, and reconcile against front desk occupancy reporting.
- Manage linen inventory, par levels, and laundry operations, including linen replacement planning and loss control.
- Oversee inventory, ordering, and receiving of cleaning supplies, chemicals, amenities, and PPE to maintain adequate stock levels.
- Ensure all chemicals are dispensed, used, stored, and documented in compliance with the Target Hospitality HSE program and MSDS requirements.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition and Human Resources on staffing plans, hiring, onboarding, training, retention, and employee relations for housekeeping roles.
- Ensure all housekeeping personnel complete required safety and chemical handling training, and that records are maintained.
- Coordinate with Maintenance on room-out-of-service reporting, repairs, and returning rooms to inventory promptly.
- Support lodge mobilization, expansion, and demobilization activities, including room readiness and linen provisioning.
- Prepare and present housekeeping performance reports, quality scores, and budget summaries to the Lodge Manager and senior leadership.
- Exceed our guests' needs by providing world-class customer service.
- Attend all safety meetings and participate in Target Hospitality emergency response procedures.
- Additional duties may be assigned by a manager.
Physical Demands
- Extended periods of sitting and computer use when performing planning, scheduling, and reporting work.
- Short- and long-distance walking and standing required during room inspections and lodge walkthroughs.
- Use of stairs and step stools.
- Occasionally lift an average weight of 25 lbs with a maximum of 50 lbs. Where weights may exceed 50 lbs, the assistance of another person or a lifting aid is mandatory.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding, high-stress environment.
- Ability to access all areas of the lodge, including guest rooms, dormitories, laundry areas, and housekeeping and storage rooms.
Working Conditions and Environment
- Ability to hear and understand verbal instruction as well as other sounds such as safety alarms and signals.
- Must be able to see without impairment for inspection purposes, and able to read small text such as product warning labels and chemical safety data.
- Exposure to extreme hot and cold environments.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals and laundry operations.
- Ability to work within a rotational schedule of 6 weeks on and 2 weeks off, or as per business needs.
- Lodge locations are often remote, with limited amenities and services nearby.
- Ability to work safely and navigate within small, close quarters and congested areas.
- May be exposed periodically to elevated noise and surroundings.
- Must be available to respond to operational and emergency issues outside of standard working hours.
Qualifications
- Hospitality Management degree, Business Administration degree, or equivalent operational experience.
- 5+ years of housekeeping, custodial, or facility services experience, including high-volume or multi-building operations.
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing housekeeping supervisors or large hourly teams.
- Remote-site, camp, or workforce housing experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated accountability for a housekeeping or facilities budget, including labor, linen, and supply costs.
- Experience managing linen inventory, par levels, and laundry operations.
- Working knowledge of chemical safety, MSDS requirements, and bloodborne pathogen and PPE standards.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with property management, room status, or inventory systems.
- First aid certification is an asset.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability and willingness to travel and work long rotations away from home.
- Must be able to pass a background check and urinalysis.
