Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients spanning pediatric, adult, and geriatric demographics via standardized assessments and observational strategies.
- Design tailored treatment plans catering to immediate objectives and longer-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing requirements.
- Engage in direct speech therapy sessions honing in on communication, language skills, fluency, voice modulation, and swallowing techniques.
- Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team including physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, caregivers, and family members to create cohesive and comprehensive care strategies.
- Deliver educational resources to patients and families, supporting progress beyond the confines of clinical sessions.
- Participate in intermittent inpatient speech therapy evaluations and interventions, ensuring consistent care throughout the entire treatment process.
- Ensure precise and timely documentation in alignment with state, federal, and organizational standards.
- Commit to continuous improvement by staying updated on advancements within the field through ongoing education and peer collaboration.
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a recognized institution.
- Successful completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if ASHA certification is not yet attained.
- State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist .
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
- Proficiency in evidence-based therapeutic methodologies encompassing all ages, with an in-depth understanding of developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary care teams.
- Ability to tailor therapy techniques to respect and meet diverse cultural and linguistic needs.
- Strong clinical judgment paired with problem-solving capabilities.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems and documentation protocols.
