PURPOSE :

The Door and Trim Carpenter Apprentice assists skilled carpenters in the installation of interior doors and finish trim work. This entry-level role focuses on developing hands-on skills in measuring, cutting, and installing trim and door systems while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

DESCRIPTION :

• Assist with installation of:
• Interior doors (slab and pre-hung)
• Baseboards, crown molding, and trim
• Door and window casings
• Measure and cut materials using hand and power tools
• Hold, position, and secure materials during installation
• Prep and finish work (caulking, sanding, filling nail holes)
• Load, unload, and organize materials and tools
• Maintain a clean and safe job site
• Follow instructions from lead carpenters and supervisors
• Learn proper layout, reveals, and alignment techniques

Equipment & Tools

• Tape measure, level, square
• Miter saw, table saw
• Nail guns (finish and brad)

Drills, sanders, and caulking tools

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or GED required
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly
• Reliable transportation to job sites
• Willingness to work full-time and early hours
• Basic tool familiarity (a plus, not required)
• Basic math and measuring skills
• Understanding of construction basics (preferred)
• Willingness to learn finish carpentry techniques
