About the role

The Fincrime Product team builds and maintains the platform that protects LemFi and its customers from sanctions breaches, money laundering and fraud. As our Rules Modeller / FinCrime Analyst, you are the bridge between financial-crime risk and the systems that detect it: you own the tuning, thresholds and risk-scoring logic that decide what gets flagged, and you own the evidence that proves those decisions are sound.

This is a domain-led role on a small, senior team. You will spend your time in typologies, alert data and detection logic - reducing false positives without letting real risk slip through - working closely with Compliance, Investigations, Product and Engineering. Your tuning directly shapes both our operational cost and our regulatory posture across more than 21 countries and dozens of corridors.

What you'll build and own

• Tune and maintain risk-scoring parameters, transaction-monitoring rules and screening match thresholds to reduce false positives while preserving coverage - and document every change with audit-ready evidence.
• Analyse alert output and case feedback to recommend, test and implement threshold and logic changes; run above-the-line / below-the-line testing and periodic tuning cycles.
• Translate emerging money-laundering, sanctions-evasion and fraud typologies into detection scenarios and rules, with clear written rationale and coverage assessments against LemFi's cross-border corridors.
• Tune name and entity matching logic for sanctions, PEP and adverse-media screening across onboarding and ongoing checks; maintain customer and transaction risk-scoring segmentation aligned to risk appetite.
• Build and interpret MI on alert volumes, false-positive rates and conversion to cases and SARs; produce tuning reports that leadership, auditors and regulators can rely on.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to specify changes, with Investigations for feedback loops, and with Compliance and the MLRO for policy and risk-appetite alignment.
• Support internal audit, model-validation exercises and regulatory exams with a maintained, evidence-backed change log.

Your experience

• Around 3 to 5 years in financial crime - transaction monitoring, sanctions screening and/or fraud - at a bank, fintech, payments provider or PSP.
• Hands-on experience configuring or tuning TM and/or screening systems: rules, scenarios, matching logic or thresholds, not just reviewing outputs.
• Solid working knowledge of AML/CTF, sanctions and fraud typologies and the regulatory expectations around monitoring and screening governance.
• Comfortable working with data: reading and interpreting alert and transaction data, slicing it in spreadsheets, and using basic SQL to pull what you need (or a clear and demonstrated appetite to build that skill quickly).
• Strong analytical and documentation skills - able to evidence and defend a tuning decision to an auditor or examiner in plain language.
• A clear communicator who can translate between risk and systems, working across compliance, product and engineering without losing accuracy.

Nice to have

• Experience in cross-border remittance, multi-corridor payments or a PSP operating across multiple jurisdictions.
• Exposure to specific TM or screening vendors, and/or familiarity with Python or analysis notebooks.
• Experience directly supporting internal audits or regulatory examinations.
