Check out the Pregis Purpose to learn how sustainability and social responsibility is at the very core of our company DNA.This role will be based in Tulsa, Oklahoma in a state-of-the-art facility with best-in-class design and assembly capabilities with a dedicated team eager to solve complex protective packaging issues.Reporting to the Sr. Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and reviewing the procedures and equipment involved in the manufacturing process.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesConduct studies that determine the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow and recommends methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnelValidate BOMs, work instructions, and other documentation against production and customer requirementsAnalyze production processes, methods, and other data to optimize productionIdentify opportunities to standardize improvements to machine assembly and apply them to other applicable applications across various machine platforms.Resolve issues and delays in production using independent judgment and discretionCollaborate with remote engineering teams to prepare new machines for production releaseAid QA department with process improvement and manufacturing work instruction updatesCreate and modify work instructionsAnalyze and plan workflow, equipment placement and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency, using a lean six-sigma and industrial engineering approachAssist in design of assembly fixtures and jigs to aid the assembly processWork closely with vendors for manufacturing fixture and test equipment developmentTranslate 3-D assembly models and detailed assembly drawings into manufacturing, along with identified CTQ's (Critical To Quality)Participate in DFMEA and DFA reviews with design engineering and drive PFMEA, particularly for new products and significant design changesBalance multiple projects concurrentlyExecute implementation of engineering changes into productionDomestic travel will be required periodicallyCompetency (Knowledge, skills, and abilities)Machine assembly experience required Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and associated technical drawings Familiarity with electrical systems and components used in industrial machinery 3D CAD / drawing familiarity (SolidWorks preferred) SAP viewing and retrieving data or other ERP systemsCommitment to health and safety standards and environmental regulationsProactive approach to problem solving, utilizing tools like 8D root cause analysis Ability and willingness to work hands-on with projects Problem solving focus and the ability to think creatively troubleshoot machine issues, design constraints, and other roadblocks Detail oriented, with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively A self-starter with excellent written and oral communication skills Must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with employees, staff, management, etc. Familiarity with PLC/electromechanical systemsEnvironmentExposure to moving equipmentInside workPhysical CharacteristicsSitting and standing: The ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods, either sitting or standingWalking: The ability to move around the office to access files and machineryLifting: The ability to lift, push, or pull objects up to 20–25 poundsHand-eye coordination: The ability to use hands and fingers to operate computers, telephones, and other office equipmentVision: The ability to see clearly at close range, such as when working with small objects or reading small print, as well as the ability to adjust focusHearing: The ability to understand and distinguish speech and other sounds, such as machinery alarmsEducation and ExperienceBachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or other engineering disciplines consideredAt least five (5) years of experience in a machinery manufacturing environmentGreen Belt Lean/Six Sigma certification or 3 years working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma principles and tools requiredDiversity and InclusionWe believe in diversity of thought and bringing together other traits and characteristics that make an individual bring a unique experience to Pregis.
