Ambulatory LPN - Surgery | Licensed Practical Nurse
Join a dedicated healthcare team in a regional medical practice serving the Midwest. This full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) role supports physicians and mid-level providers by delivering patient assessments, treatments, testing, and education within a busy clinical environment.
General Summary
The Office LPN plays a vital role in patient care by assisting with procedures, administering medications, and ensuring a safe and efficient clinical workflow. This position requires strong organizational skills, professionalism, excellent customer service, and the ability to multitask and think critically under pressure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Adhere to clinic policies on patient safety, infection prevention, and safe patient handling.
- Administer medications including oral, intramuscular, and subcutaneous as ordered.
- Assist providers with procedures, maintain sterile fields, and manage instrument trays.
- Support examinations within the scope of licensure and perform phone triage.
- Serve as a liaison between providers and patients, including communicating test results and answering patient questions.
- Document patient complaints and visit details accurately according to provider preferences.
- Escort patients to exam rooms and obtain vital signs, height, and weight.
- Update and review patient medication lists and summaries.
- Perform point-of-care lab testing and collect specimens as ordered.
- Educate patients on electronic health record tools and provide supportive teaching.
- Schedule diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including obtaining necessary authorizations.
- Train new LPNs and medical assistants in clinic protocols.
- Demonstrate accountability, teamwork, and reliability in a fast-paced setting.
Education
Graduate of an accredited LPN program and completion of an approved IV therapy course.
Experience
Previous nursing or healthcare experience is preferred but not required.
Certification/License
Current LPN license valid in the state of practice and American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required.
Mental/Physical Requirements
Requires considerable mental focus, ability to lift up to 35 lbs., and perform activities involving standing, walking, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.
Working Conditions
Frequent exposure to infectious diseases and occasional encounters with hostile individuals. Minimal physical discomfort expected.
