Shear Operator

The Shear Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining the shearing machines to cut metal sheets, plates, or other materials to specified sizes and shapes with accuracy and efficiency. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and collaboration with the production team to ensure high-quality output.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate shearing machines according to specifications.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine cutting requirements.
• Adjust machine settings for thickness, length, and cutting angles.
• Inspect raw materials and finished pieces to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Maintain the shearing equipment, including routine cleaning, lubrication, and minor troubleshooting.
• Report any machine malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors promptly.
• Follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Maintain accurate production records, including quantity produced, materials used, and any defects.
• Collaborate with other team members to meet production deadlines and quality targets.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in machining or metalworking is preferred.
• Proven experience operating shearing machines or similar cutting equipment.
• Basic mechanical skills and understanding of machine maintenance.
• Ability to read technical drawings and measurements accurately.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Good physical stamina and ability to lift materials safely.
• Knowledge of safety standards in a manufacturing environment.
