GROUNDS & MAINTENANCE WORKER

JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Grounds & Maintenance Worker
QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be able to read basic operating instructions.
2. Demonstrate aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
3. Some heavy lifting may be required (up to 75 lbs.)
4. Any alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or
acceptable.

REPORTS TO: Building and Grounds Supervisor
JOB GOAL: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place
in which to learn, play and develop by keeping a clean environment inside and
out.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas, neat
and clean at all times.
2. Assists in completing Grounds and Maintenance work orders in a timely manner.
3. Shovels, and plows, sidewalks, driveways, parking areas and steps as appropriate.
4. Assists in keeping sprinkler systems maintained as appropriate.
5. Ensures all outside trash receptacles are emptied on a daily basis.
6. Performs grounds keeping chores such as grass cutting, tree trimming and
flowerbed tending to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive
condition.
7. Assists in the summer preventative maintenance programs established for the
schools. This type of work can be, but it not limited to, repainting, sanding,
finishing, stripping, and waxing floors, minor repairs involving carpentry skills,
etc.
8. Other duties as assigned
9. Adheres to all applicable laws, policies, and regulations governing the operation
of Fremont County School District #14.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 month work year with salary and fringe benefits to be
established by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the
Board's policy on the evaluation of support staff.
