Management Trainee Program

Overview The Management Trainee position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” Management Trainees perform a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g., cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). Work directly with the Store Manager to develop sales, recruiting and leadership skills in order to become a Store Manager. The Management Trainee will also share responsibility for training and motivating Teammates and act as the Store Manager in their absence. Compensation & Benefits Pay range: $21-$27/hr The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons. For sales positions, Buckle pays a base rate plus commission on sales. The range listed is the estimated base rate plus commission for Teammates in this position. Essential Duties And Responsibilities This description describes the general nature and level of work performed by teammates assigned to this job. Sales Generation and Guest Service Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and provide legendary service. Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise. Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on Guest needs and desires. Anticipate and fulfill Guest needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobing experience. Demonstrate product knowledge and sales education, sharing that knowledge with the Team. Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, payment/exchange policies, and security practices. Contribute to Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) usage and personal sales performance. Meet or exceed personal sales-per-hour, average sales, and total net sales goals set by Store Management. Develop relationships to build a client-based business. Model leadership in customer service and selling skills. Maintain high standards of performance, whether or not the Manager is present. Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development Develop skills and assist in leading and educating new Teammates to meet Buckle’s standards. Motivate Teammates to initiate and complete daily tasks. Coach and counsel Teammates according to Buckle policies. Actively recruit for the store and participate in interviewing with the Store Manager. Support Store Manager by setting up all interviews. Visual Merchandise Management Educate Teammates to implement and evaluate visual displays based on Buckle guidelines. Manage product categories such as denim, shoes, promotions and supplies. Maintain store standards of excellence and display new freight appropriately. Operations Maintain a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holiday periods as needed. Set goals to complete an extensive Management Trainee Program with weekly topics and reviews. Review completed assignments with District Manager. Communicate with Area, District, and Corporate offices to assist Store Manager in store operation. Complete opening and closing procedures accurately and on time. Implement Buckle developments under Store Manager guidance. Complete register balancing and bank deposits accurately. Adhere to Loss Prevention policies and store key controls. Handle returns, exchanges, and other operational duties in the Store Manager’s absence. Provide feedback on sales and Teammate performance to Store Manager. Monitor inventory of supplies and keep the store clean, organized and shoppable. Report store repair needs and emergencies promptly. Communicate policy violations and Teammate or Guest concerns to leadership in a timely, confidential manner. Understand and apply Buckle’s Code of Ethics and policies. Supervisory and Leadership Support Store Manager by planning, leading the Team, and conducting daily reviews. Assist with onboarding new hires and ensure paperwork is completed. Prepare to be a Store Manager by supervising Teammates and performing related duties, including recruiting, interviewing, training, reviewing, delegating, scheduling, and leading Teammates. Act as the Store Manager in their absence and be able to travel to cover other stores as needed. Contribute to the mission with high customer service and positive team spirit. Take on special projects as assigned. Education And/or Experience Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in a relevant field is preferred; or one to three months related retail experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
