Job Overview

The Physical Therapist is responsible for delivering physical therapy services to patients. This includes, but is not limited to, conducting screenings and evaluations, developing treatment plans, implementing treatments, reassessing and revising plans, re-evaluating patients/clients, planning for discharge, and maintaining documentation across various settings. The Physical Therapist also engages in program planning and protocol development as needed, contributing to the achievement of established goals within the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Conducts evaluation services, which involve reviewing relevant history, performing specific assessments, making recommendations, and documenting results. Communicates evaluation findings and treatment plans to patients and their families, ensuring their involvement in goal-setting.
• Exhibits expertise in executing treatment protocols based on evaluation results, patient presentation, and the changing healthcare landscape. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals as necessary. Identifies and records any changes in the patient's condition that may require adjustments to the care plan or additional medical/rehabilitation consultations.
• Completes discharge planning and follow-up care efficiently. Ensures accurate and timely documentation and billing for patient care activities, reflecting the patient's care journey, including initial evaluations, daily encounter notes, interim progress summaries, and discharge evaluations.
• Manages time effectively to meet productivity standards. Maintains an accurate schedule and is punctual for meetings. Demonstrates a professional commitment to providing seamless patient access to care through flexibility, adaptability, creativity, and empathetic behavior in a patient-centered environment.
• Engages in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement initiatives. Participates in meetings and committees, representing the department and organization in community outreach efforts. Involves in hospital and community marketing activities as appropriate to the role.
• Contributes to the development and attainment of departmental goals and objectives while adhering to governmental and accreditation regulations.
• Takes the initiative in pursuing continuing education for personal and organizational growth. Acts as a clinical instructor for assigned students and assists in the orientation and mentoring of new staff, students, volunteers, and technicians.

Qualifications

• Education:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited Physical Therapy program required, or
  • Master's degree from an accredited Physical Therapy program required, or
  • Doctoral degree from an accredited Physical Therapy program required.
• Experience: Previous work experience is not mandatory.
• Licenses and Certifications:
  • PT - Physical Therapist licensure in Maryland, District of Columbia (DC), and/or Virginia as required for specific locations.
  • CPR - Certification in Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (including BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 days of hire.
  • Additional unit or specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstrates professional competency as a general practitioner in physical therapy, utilizing a variety of evaluation and treatment methods independently.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting; organized, detail-oriented, and timely. Possesses strong customer service skills for interacting with patients and their families from diverse backgrounds; takes initiative in adhering to all procedures and policies; communicates effectively; and is proficient in using computer systems.

Compensation

This position offers a salary range of USD $74,214.00 - USD $134,596.00 per year.
