Membership Manager

Organization: Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce Reports To: President & CEO Position Type: Full-Time Position Summary The Membership Manager plays a vital role in driving organizational growth and maintaining long-term member satisfaction. This position is balanced across three key priorities: 50% New Member Acquisition , 30% Member Engagement & Retention , and 20% Administrative & Committee Oversight . We're looking for a proactive relationship-builder who excels at prospective sales and helps current members fully leverage their benefits and maximize their return on investment. Core Responsibilities Breakdown Identify, target, and prospect business leads across Chesterfield County and the Metro Richmond area. Conduct outreach, sales calls, in-person sales visits, and formal presentations to prospective members. Manage the full sales cycle from initial contact to closing. Meet or exceed monthly and annual membership recruitment quotas. Represent the Chamber at networking functions, ribbon-cutting ceremonies, and community gatherings to build an active sales pipeline. 2. Member Retention & Engagement (30%) Oversee the end-to-end new member onboarding experience, pairing newly joined businesses with a designated Chamber Ambassador to ensure a warm welcome and seamless integration. Execute a structured check-in touchpoint strategy (calls, site visits, and periodic check-ins) for existing members. Track member involvement to identify underutilized perks and guide businesses on how to maximize their benefits. Lead the annual membership renewal process, proactively engaging accounts prior to expiration. Act as a direct point of contact for member inquiries, ensuring fast, helpful resolutions. Conduct outreach with non-renewing members to gather feedback and identify opportunities for re-engagement. 3. Administrative, CRM Management (20%) Oversee and manage the Chamber Ambassador Program and the Membership Committee, facilitating regular meetings, guiding volunteer involvement, and aligning committee efforts with organizational growth goals. Maintain up-to-date records of all sales activity, leads, and member touchpoints in the CRM database. Track and report key metrics—including monthly pipeline, conversion rates, and retention statistics—to the President & CEO. Collaborate with marketing staff to ensure new members are featured across public channels. Structure: Base salary plus monthly sales commission on new membership acquisitions. Actual earnings are tied to sales performance. Retirement: 401(k) plan with employer match. Paid Time Off (PTO): Generous PTO + paid holiday package. Qualifications Experience: 2–4 years of experience in sales, account management, business development, or membership recruitment (non-profit, association, or Chamber experience is a plus). Skills: Strong consultative sales ability, volunteer management/leadership skills, customer success mindset, and active listening. Communication: Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; comfortable engaging with small business owners and C-suite executives alike. Technology: Proficiency with CRM platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and database management tools. Local Knowledge: Familiarity with the Chesterfield County business community is preferred. Office-based with regular local travel for business visits and meetings across the county.
